iPhone 2G (1st Generation) LCD / Digitizer / Front Glass Screen Replacement Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to replace the lcd , digitizer, and front glass screen in your iPhone 2G aka the first generation iPhone. This is not a simple job and requires you to almost completely disassemble your iPhone.

Stuff you will need:

A few small screwdrivers (phillips, flat head)
Ziplock bags for screws and small parts
X-acto knife with the flat #17 blade

	To get to the screen you'll have to open your iPhone. This is probably the hardest part of this job and is covered in our iPhone 2G Opening Tutorial.
	Before continuing you need to disconnect the headphone jack cable from the motherboard. All you have to do is use your screwdriver to push up on the top half of the connector and it will pop right off.
	The battery is attached with some adhesive. Use your x-acto blade to slowly peel it off.
	To remove the chrome bezel you'll need to remove three screws on each side of the iPhone...
	... and two screws on the top and bottom of the iPhone.
	After removing the screws the bezel comes right off.

	This is the camera. Push the top part of the connector up with your flathead screwdriver. It will pop right off.

	Circled in red are the three screws you need to remove to take out the motherboard. Circled in green are antenna connectors that you'll also need to disconnect (pull on them with your needlenose pliers).
	We're going to fastforward a little to show you the motherboard connectors that you're going to have to disconnect next. The ones circled in red will pop right off when you push on them. The one circled in green has a clasp on the connector that has to be lifted up before the cable can be removed.
	This is what the connectors will look like when you lift up the motherboard. The red lines show the connectors that pop off. Outlined in green is the connector with the clasp.
	Now take your x-acto flat blade and slip it under the bottom of the front glass cover. Slide it around and pry up the front glass cover to loosen the adhesive.
	Do the same on the top of the cover. On this iPhone the top is smashed, but you get the idea.
	After you loosen the adhesive you'll need to use your x-acto blade once again to pry between the side of the lcd and the metal frame to release the three clips on the side of the iPhone. Then lift up the screen and release the clips on the other side.
	This is the screen assembly separated from the frame. As you can see the cables go through a slot in the frame and to the other side to plug into the motherboard. Slide them through the slot and out.
	The lcd screen, digitizer, and front glass assembly removed. Installation is the reverse of removal.
