Wii not spinning

I'm pretty sure my Wii's dvd spindle motor died, I ordered a new part and I'm waiting for it to arrive.  If the logic board were bad, when I insert the dvd and it does not spin would the motor be free spinning or locked in place?  Right now when I insert the game with the lights off I can see the laser and I can see the laser moving.  The game does not spin and I get a error.. While the laser was trying to read I tried to spin the game myself and it was locked up..

OK It was the motor, SO to answer my own question the drive WILL free spin if the motor is good.  Mine was locked up and bad..
