I have googled this and all I could find was. Make sure you have a sony memory card(check) Try a different card(check) Format in another psp and try it(check) The light comes on like it is trying to read it, but it just doesn't recognize it. Tells me there is no memory card installed, when in fact there is. Just wondering if you could offer up any advice.

Sounds like you might need a new memory card reader board.

You can buy one for about £10, i replaced my sons board recently,
because his WiFi stopped working, the only problem i had and it took me a while to find out,
was that when u change the Memory board/Wifi board,
you need to change the MAC address on the Wifi board to match the motherboards,
otherwise you will have problems connecting to other people psp's..

it took me a few months and a couple of wifi boards to find this out, because most people say that
theres an incompatabiltity, when u just needto chane the Mac address.

I am in the USA, so is there somewhere here I can get one of these? If you change the reader board, is that part of the wifi board also?

i dont know wether this website supplys you with parts, but another place to look is ebay...
just type in Psp Wifi-board..this works your memory card and your internet connection, and also connects you to other psp's.
have a look at the tutorial on here, its good and indepth, and shows you how to remove the parts needing fixing.

my sons is a 0.81 motherboard, but i brought a 0.79 wifi instead, and had connection to the net, and memory card, but no ahdoc, it wouldnt let me play multiplayer games, some would most didnt.
so i brought another wifi board, the right one this time, installed it again, and tried it, it was the same.
i could play the internet, memory card, but multiplayer games didnt work.
so i did some reading, and found out it was the mac address that was causing the problem..

to be honest i dont think it matters, which one u choose..but i arnt sure..
my sons has custom fireware on it. dark alex 3.40, and with custom firmware u can change the mac address, you cant change it without having custom firmware.

this is a good guide which i used to change my mac address, but the mac address he shows you, is for your wifi board.(the one with your psp name on it)
if you go onto NETWORK SETTINGS, and make a TEST connection to the internet, then you PSP MOTHERBOARD's MAC ADDRESS is there. WRITE THIS ONE DOWN, so when u change it, you change it to match this one, otherwise it wont work.
the video says you can change it to what ever you want to, well you can, but you ahdoc will not work if theres 2 different mac addresses.
ive applied a link below to show you how too, you also need to download the 2 files, which are link to the video, at the top right hand side.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR MAC ADDRESS.

Hope this helps

Sorry I didn't get to your post earlier. Looks like nidger covered everything pretty well. We should have the wifi boards in stock in a week or so.

i think it would be good Zombie, if you wrote a HOW TO on changing the mac address, and link them 2 files to it, just incase someone removes that video from utube.
people would know how to do this them, without searching.
thants when your not busy.
