When I hit the home button it brings up the home screen but then does not allow me to do anything. Can this be fixed and if so how?

So what you're saying is that your buttons dont work? How did the problem start?

No the button works, it will bring up the home screen when you are in the game.
When the screen comes up it asks you if you want to quit the game and you cannot move from no to yes, you aslo cannot change the volume on the home screen and the mute button does not work. When you are in a game the start and select buttons do not work to pause the game, so really when you start a movie or a game the only thing you can do to get out of it is shut the thing off so you cannot save any of your progress and have to start all over.
We just got the thing so I have no idea when it started.

Can't tell you that over the internet. If its just the buttons it could be fixed. If its the motherboard itself its not really cost effective.
