Okay, I've replaced this DS Lite's top screen.  However, when I powered it on (& was prompted for Username, Datetime, etc), the top screen displayed solid white--no DS logo.

So, I disassembled the unit, re-seated all ribbons, & put everything back together.  No luck--same results: user prompts on bottom, blank white on top.  Looks like the new screen's getting power, just no signal.  It does respond to the brightness control, but little else.

Is this maybe a ribbon cable problem?  Much difficulty was encountered, pulling it through the hinge...

We solved the problem via email, but I guess the answer should be posted here too for the benefit of other readers.

Yes this is a ribbon cable problem. Don't twist/bend the cable too much when pulling it through.

So was the cable ripped or was there a quick fix?

Can't repair it. Just replace the top screen and you should be good.
