First, open up your Zune HD by following our Zune HD Opening Tutorial. |
The silver rectangle is the battery. It is attached to the Zune HD frame with some very sticky adhesive. Use your x-acto to gently pry all around the battery until you're able to peel it off. |
To get to the battery wires you have to get to the other side of the motherboard. To do that you need to remove the three torx screws circled in red. |
Pry up on the hadphone jack... |
... and leave it attached like shown in the picture. |
Outlined in green are three connectors that plug into the motherboard. To disconnect them all you have to do is push up with a flathead screwdriver or your fingernail. |
The connectors and the sockets on the motherboard that they plug into. |
The motherboard is held to the frame by the three black clips outlined in red. Push the clips in the direction of the arrows as you pry up on the motherboard. |
Now flip the motherboard over and you'll see the three wires for the battery. Desolder them and solder in the wires from the new battery. Installation is the reverse of removal. |
