DSi XL Top LCD Screen Replacement Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to open the top half of your DSi XL and replace the top lcd screen. To get to the top screen you have to completely disassemble your DSi XL so this tutorial will also be useful if you need to get to the motherboard or replace a cracked case.

You can purchase a new DSi XL Top LCD screen in the Zombie Store. .

Stuff you will need:

A few small screwdrivers (phillips #00, flat head)
Ziplock bags for screws and small parts


	Remove the battery and the other 9 screws shown in the picture.
	Take the cover off the bottom half of the DSi Xl and disconnect the two cables shown from the motherboard. These connectors will likely pop off on their own as you remove the cover.
	Remove the 5 motherboard screws shown in the picture.
	The power / d-pad board is next. Remove the 7 screws that hold the power board.
	Lift up the black clasp and remove the flat cable that connects the power board to the motherboard.
	This is the connector that provides power from the power board/battery to the motherboard. Use a flathead screwdriver to lift the connector up and out.
	This is the power connector removed from its slot.
	Remove the wifi board and disconnect the mic and wifi antenna wires.
	Lift up the black clasp and disconnect the camera cable from it's slot in the corner of the DSi XL motherboard.
	Lift the motherboard and the bottom lcd screen out of their slot and flip them over to expose the DSi XL top lcd screen connector.
	Remove the shoulder light assembly.
	Remove the four screws next to the top lcd screen.
	Slide the top half's cover forward a bit. You should then be able to lift the cover off.
	You can now see the top screen and the other components. Remove the screw labeled #3 and lift the metal cover out of the way. This will allow you to remove the microphone and pry the front camera out of its slot. Then you can remove the wifi antenna labeled #1 and pop the speakers labeled #2 out of their slots.
	Here is a picture of the metal plate out of the way and the camera and microphone removed.
	Flip the DSi XL back over and use a screwdriver to push the hinge into the top half of the case.
	This is what you'll see when the hinge is pushed to the side.
	Now that the hinge is out of the way you can separate the two halves of the case. The only things keeping them together are the camera and top screen cables.
	The two cables can be removed by sliding them through the slot in the bottom half of the case.
	Roll the camera and top screen cables into a tube and push them through the slot as you remove the top screen and the camera. You'll need to reuse your old speaker and the top screen cover. The cover is attached with some adhesive and should peel right off. Stick it on your new screen.
	The speaker wires are soldered to the screen. Remove them and solder them to the new screen. Reassembly is the reverse of removal.
