DSi Bottom LCD & Touch Screen Replacement Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to open the bottom half of your DSi and replace the touch screen, lcd screen, or both. It also covers the removal of the motherboard.

You can purchase a new DSi Bottom LCD screen and a new DSi Touch Screen in the Zombie Store. .

Stuff you will need:

A few small screwdrivers (phillips #00, flat head)
Ziplock bags for screws and small parts


	First thing you need to do is take out the battery, memory card, game cart, stylus. Next, remove the 7 screws circled in red. Unlike the DS Lite the DSi doesn't have any tri-wing screws so all you'll need is a small + screwdriver.
	Pry around the edge of the cover until it loosens and pops off. The best tool here is your fingernails.
	Lift the back cover up. As you can see it is connected to the motherboard.
	The connector pops right off if you pull on it.
	Disconnect these three cables.
	Lift up the black clasps as shown in the picture to release the cables. Be very careful! The clasps are very easy to break.
	The third cable has the same type of clasp.
	This power wire connector is something new to the DSi. Use a flathead screwdriver to push the white part of the connector straight up. If you try to pull it back like a standard connector it will break!
	Power wires disconnected.
	Disconnect the touch panel cable. It has the same type of clasp as before.
	Disconnect the wifi antenna wire and the mic wire and remove the wifi board. All you have to do is pull on the connector and they will pop off. Pull on the metal connector NOT the wire.
	Remove the screws circled in red.
	Lift up the motherboard and set it aside as shown. It is still connected to the top half of the DSi by two cables so be careful.
	The bottom lcd screen and touch screen can be lifted right out of their slot. As you can see the back of the LCD is insulated. If you are replacing the bottom LCD and the new part doesn't have that coating put some electrical tape on it.
	If you look at the bottom screen assembly from the side you'll see the metal part (the lcd screen) and the transparent plastic part (the touch screen). You can separate the two by using a flat blade xacto knife and running it around the edges of the assembly where the adhesive is. Then simply reuse whichever part is still good. Reassembly is the reverse of removal.
