3DS Top LCD Screen Replacement Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to open the top half of your 3DS and replace the top lcd screen. To get to the top screen you'll need to disassemble the entire 3DS console and remove the motherboard, analog stick, sd card reader, wifi module, speakers, cameras, and other small parts.

You can purchase a new 3DS Top LCD screen in the Zombie Store.

Stuff you will need:

A few small screwdrivers (phillips #00, flat head)
Ziplock bags for screws and small parts


	Begin by following our 3DS Bottom LCD & Touch Screen Tutorial to disassemble the bottom half of your 3DS. Stop at the second to last step. You do not need to disconnect the bottom screen from the motherboard. Then continue with the steps below.
	Pull the wifi antenna wire out of its slots. The path is shown by the red dashed line.
	Remove the two plastic pieces that make up the light on the shoulder of the 3DS.
	Pull the plastic screen cover off the top screen.
	Remove the screws circled in red.
	Now remove the cover off the back of the top half of the 3DS.
	As you can see the top screen access is blocked by several other boards and cables. Pry the camera assembly (#2) out of its socket and peel the camera cable off the back of the top lcd screen.
	Open the two clasps (#1) as shown and disconnect the two small cables. Pull the board and the attached speaker out of their socket.
	Remove one screw from board #3 and remove the board and speaker.
	Peel the cables off the back of the top lcd screen and place them out of your way.
	You'll need to move the shoulder hinge to separate the top and bottom halves of the case. This picture shows the hinge holding the two halves together.
	Flip the case over and use a small screwdriver to push the hinge in the direction of the yellow arrow.
	This is what the hinge will look like once it's pushed all the way out.
	Lift up the top screen and remove the wifi antenna labeled #4.
	Slightly separate the two halves of the case, but make sure the hinge sleeve shown here stays in the top half.
	Again flip the 3DS over and look at the cables sticking out of the top right corner. To separate the two halves of the case slide the cables through the slot shown in the picture.
	Now roll the two thicker cables (black and gold) into a tube and push them through the hinge.
	This is the 3DS top lcd screen with the camera cable still stuck to the back. You'll reuse the camera with your new lcd screen. Installation is the reverse of removal.
